Our story

Become a Smile Giver

Imagine being a parent of a newborn baby who´s crying desperately of hunger and although you have the milk to feed him you can´t do it because the baby has a malformation in his lip and palate that makes swallowing difficult.

That baby will begin to lose weight and eventually be malnourished, he  will have more risks of getting sick or getting infections.

All this can be solved with a 45-minute surgery that will change the life of the baby and the family forever.

Why it matters?

Imagine this was your child! A child that will not be able to feed, laugh or kiss as any other child.

For too many families around the world, safe surgery is not an option.

At Operation Smile we believe every child deserves exceptional surgical care. We believe all children deserve to be treated as if they were our own.

That’s what drives each and every one of us: our global network of medical professionals, who donate hundreds of thousands of hours toward the care of children around the world each year, and our supporters who are moved every day to make a difference in the lives of children they’ve never met.

How will the funds be used?

Your donations will help us provide free ongoing comprehensive treatment and life changing surgeries to children with cleft lip and palate.

Being part of the Operation Smile team give us the privileged to make a real and significant difference in someone else´s life. We give our effort, time and love for someone we just met. Someone who will probably never remember us, but would never forget what we did for them.
We have met many families desperately seeking help for their children. We’ve laughed and cried with them. We have seen babies grow and when they return for their post-operative checkups they are happy, they run towards with a big smile on their faces, it´s priceless. Each child becomes our reason to keep working, we will not stop until we have taken care of every child with a cleft deformity.
