Did you vote for the first time this election? Do you want to keep the action going in concrete ways? Together, we will help low-income asylum seekers get the support they need!
“There's always going to be hard times, and right now we're going through a hard time with COVID. That's when we should forget all that ignorance and we should just all take care of each other, and overcome together. Because to overcome things, we always have to be together.” - Gerardo Oseguera, EBSC client
East Bay Sanctuary Covenant (EBSC) helps immigrants and asylum seekers achieve legal status, citizenship, and well-being as they overcome extraordinary obstacles and achieve their dreams for themselves and society. We provide free and low-cost legal services for people escaping all forms of violence and persecution. To date, we have helped over 5,000 people achieve asylum with a 97.6 percent success rate. We also offer English language, citizenship and Know Your Rights classes and fight for human rights through our immigrant-led organizing team.
The past four years have been devastating for asylum seekers and COVID-19 has hit our low-income community members hard. Many have lost their jobs and have had their legal cases put on hold. EBSC’s cash assistance fund provides clients with money to ensure their basic needs - including rent, food, medicine and legal application fees - are met during this crisis. This will then allow them to move forward on their path to becoming fully engaged citizens.
With every donation, you will help youth and families directly with cash aid. Every amount makes a difference!
Our clients need mental health support as well. The young people we serve often arrive in the U.S. as teenagers fleeing violence in their home countries and are further traumatized by the U.S. immigration system. We are partnering with Be The Change Health to offer free counseling to asylum seekers as they adjust to life in the U.S.
