In L'Arche, mutual relationships among people with and without intellectual disabilities transform us by revealing the unique value of every person. This experience is a sign in the world that all belong. Every person dignity is in the center of our mission.
Our community life is day by day establishing fraternal relationships between people with and without intellectual disabilities, we take care of each other, we share life together being present for each other. We share meals, work and daily life activities while creating spaces for reflection and storytelling.
Both in our community life and in professional support we strive to become more competent and learn together. Living and serving in community invites us to know ourselves and each other more authentically.
Our practices and values go hand in hand and give expression to our spirituality and search for meaning.
We develop this mission of forming community through three programs:
A Home where people, in a state of abandonment due to their intellectual disability, have the opportunity to have access to a dignified life, to be cared for, to live in a home, to education, to work and above all, to the love they deserve.
An Occupational and Recreational Workshop where people who live in L'Arche Home and others who live in our extended community in the San Pedro Martir area develop skills and abilities (making piñatas, painting, jewelry and embroidery), express themselves and seek to stay active and healthy (exercise, dance, zumba), share life and contribute to the community with their precious gifts.
Together, we commit ourselves to building relationships across differences. This leads to ways of living and being that contribute to a more loving and sustainable world, our common home.
We invite you to be part of our community "Friends of L'Arche" where the doors are open and we celebrate your visit and your presence.
We know that our membership is given in different ways, so in this project we are inviting you to be part of our community by getting to know us through different means: our social networks, periodic communications, special celebrations of the life of our community. All this is sustained through the generosity of people who, in this sense of belonging, commit themselves every day to volunteer their work, their support with different products and services for the benefit of the community and, specially, with their monthly financial contribution that allows us to move forward together in our mission.
We invite you to support us with monthly donations that, through the HIPGIVE platform, you can leave programmed in a safe and reliable way and with the possibility of obtaining a tax-deductible receipt (in Mexico and USA).
Be part of a community that includes everyone, people with and without intellectual disabilities, committed to collaborative work, the promotion of people and their rights, and justice.
