RADICAL, based on true events, takes place in Matamoros, a Mexican border town plagued by neglect, corruption, and violence. A frustrated teacher (Derbez) tries a radical new method to break through his students’ apathy and unlock their genius. It’s a deeply moving story that highlights a widespread challenge: potential is everywhere - but opportunity isn’t.

Although the story takes place in Mexico, many of the systemic challenges depicted in the film are also present in Latinx communities in the U.S., where students of color are often concentrated in schools with limited resources. Additionally, Latinx communities in the U.S. currently receive only 1% of all philanthropic resources.

With that in mind, Participant and Hispanics in Philanthropy are partnering with key organizations to create the Radical Fund, bringing much needed attention and funding for models that inspire and advance equity in education for Latinx youth on this side of the border, Tijuana and Puerto Rico.

The goal of the Radical Fund is to raise funds that will support several organizations working on closing the achievement gap, retention, graduation, STEAM, leadership development and healing-centered strategies to support Latinx students at home, in school and in the community.

Thank you for making a difference! With your support, we can help give opportunities to the next generation of potential stars. 100% of donations will go towards Hispanics in Philanthropy to support the Radical Fund grantees.
