Our story

More than 35% of our participants are girls thanks to the scholarships provided, and almost 60% come from public shools.

What is AxtaTeen 4.0?

AxtaTeen 4.0 is a program created by the IT cluster in Nuevo León, Mexico, to develop the skills and competencies necessary to thrive in the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The program serves young people between 12 and 17 years old through workshops on algorithmic thinking, innovation, entrepreneurship and specializations in technologies of the 4th industrial revolution.

Why is it important?

It is indisputable that we must introduce and strengthen STEAM’s teachings from an early age

promoting a multidisciplinary profile. To enter and be successful in the 4th industrial revolution, it

will be necessary to develop mathematical, technological, innovation, human skills, taken from a fun and challenging point as in the Axt@Teen camps developed by experts from prestigious universities.

What do we hope to achieve with your contribution?

Motivate mothers and fathers to allow their daughters to “taste” technology, as they tried vegetables, giving them the opportunity to choose a career with opportunities for economic and social improvement.

How will your donation be used?

We will pay for the food of the girls as well as the transportation of public schools away from the camps so that everyone has the same opportunity to attend a high level program. A girl or boy costs us a little more than $ 1,200 pesos (57 USD).

Who are we?

AxtaTeen 4.0 is a free program created by the IT cluster in Monterrey, Mexico. The program has been carried out since 2017 at the universities Universidad de Monterrey, Tec de Monterrey, Regiomontana University, Autonomous University of Nuevo León as well as Softtek. Thanks to sponsors like you and Autycom, NIC, Tecnoap or Nuvasoft we have been able to take this program to more than 500 girls and boys.

The first edition was held in 2017 with almost 220 enrollments from 40 public and private schools, in 2018 and 2019 the number of participants increased to 300 and the focus of the workshops was adjusted to meet the needs of I4.0.

Each year there have been more than 80 volunteers from local universities and IT companies, who attend and teach classes at their own facilities or where the premises provide. universities

In 2020 we expect to impact more than 400 young people between 12 and 17 years old and our goal is to reach 40% of girls.

The program is carried out in Nuevo León, Monterrey; however, it expanded in 2018 to other municipalities such as Santiago, Nuevo León and in 2020 the program will begin in Aguascalientes and Veracruz.

In what other ways can you help us?

There are many ways to help:

  • Spread the word, invite a mom or dad to register their daughter or their son, tell them about the importance of ICTs.
  • Be an instructor or mentor of the participants, your experience is very valuable
  • Support in kind, with food or t-shirts.

What is the camp about?

The participants are exposed for more than 30 hours to the following workshops: Design Thinking, entrepreneurship, what is industry 4.0, development of algorithmic thinking and 4 sessions of an I4.0 technology (3D printing, IoT, robotics, application programming, simulation programming) or competitive programming, cybersecurity and data sciences).

It is important to mention that the program sessions are inherently aligned to these areas: to involve students in innovative activities and technology and engineering practices such as coding, programming or robotics. In addition to vocational motivation, local companies present job opportunities in the areas of engineering and information technology.
