Even during this pandemic families with small children remain for weeks and months in immigration detention at the Berks County Residential Center. Detention needlessly exposes them and the community to the deadly virus that has paralyzed our lives. Despite evidence that congregate care facilities increase the risk of outbreaks, ICE will not parole these families, even though doing so is entirely at their discretion.
Our mission is to free every single child and their families.
Thanks to your support, even during this very difficult time, we are able to keep our staff going, knocking on every door, working on every idea on the table to prove to the courts that the detention of children and families in these conditions is not only unlawful but wrong, dangerous and contrary to everything we stand for as a country of immigrants.
This has been our commitment since 2016, with a small but mighty staff of lawyers and paralegals, and scores of volunteer professionals nationwide who help us turn the system on its head for the release of families. Your contributions, no matter how small, make you part of our aldea, of our village and our mission. Because no refugee child should spend a single day in immigration detention, ever.
Even if you cannot support with a modest contribution on #GivingTuesday, please help us spread the word to the community or if you are a legal or language professional please consider volunteering with us and fill out this simple form.
