Chilte craft, very similar to gum, is a unique craft in Talpa de Allende, Jalisco, and it’s getting lost with new generations because young people are not interested in making crafts.
We want to rescue the traditional chilte technique, to strengthen the quality and enhance its commercialization to ensure the well-being of the artisans who live from this craft.
We want to give one year of workshops where artisans and young artisans retake and learn the traditional technique of chilte craft. With donations, we can provide the workshops with materials and ensure the payment of the artisan masters.
The quality of chilte crafts would increase and there will be more demand for these artworks.
It’s important that our crafts and their quality are not lost as they are an example of our traditions, which are an essential part of our identity
