Encuentro NM has been a long-standing partner with Prosperity Works. Their clients have utilized the Individual Development Accounts (IDA) product that we offer to become banked and start many small businesses. We have also worked together to create the systemic change that is needed to include all of our recent arrivals in the educational and economic opportunities our nation is known for. Encuentro’s mission is to transform New Mexico into a thriving community for all of its residents. They do this by engaging with Latino immigrant families in educational and career development opportunities that build skills for economic and social justice.
For this particular project, we are raising funds to assist immigrant workers who will not receive government assistance during this COVID-19 crisis. We will raise the funds via Giving Tuesday Now and Encuentro will identify the immigrant workers left out of the traditional assistance network and distribute funding as needed.
This project is directly related to Prosperity Works’ larger mission of achieving economic equity and financial inclusion for all New Mexicans, as we target aid to low-income workers who are left out of assistance systems and investments. This project matters – and will matter – to our own longterm donors and supporters who understand the work we do.
We will bring real, positive benefits to immigrant worker families in our communities by providing direct financial assistance, food, supplies, and other essential items that have become difficult for them to receive due to the devastating impact that COVID-19 has had on their income.
Funding from this project will go directly to Encuentro NM for distribution as they deem appropriate to address the needs of the families they serve.
Who we are?
Prosperity Works is a small, but highly effective 501(c)3 non profit that builds the capacity of organizations and advocates for policies that generate economic prosperity for all New Mexicans.
We do this through a suite of asset-building initiatives that we deploy statewide, including Individual Development Accounts, Prosperity Kids college savings accounts, and a small dollar employer lending program that has been broadly adopted in New Mexico.
How else people can help?
Prosperity Works is always looking for volunteers who will help us increase the visibility of the opportunites we offer, and add their voices to our calls for the systems change that can create social justice policies and practices. Financial investments in our work are also essential. For this particular Giving Tuesday Now program, interested volunteers can contact Prosperity Works by emailing email@example.com
