Carolina is in her last semester in Mujeres Aliadas’ Professional Midwifery School. She’s had the opportunity to provide prenatal care and be present for some of the births of women who come to our Health Center to care for their pregnancy.
Recently Rocío, a woman Carolina accompanied in a beautiful water birth and with whom she’d maintained close communication during the postpartum period, shared with her that the power she felt during birth and the continued support she’d received from Carolina during postpartum, gave her confidence and security in her and in her body, allowing her to breastfeed and raise her daughter.
“We midwifery students are like seeds. Just as we start germinating and growing, we want to provide care for more women and their families. Evidence-based care, provided in an empathetic and affectionate way, will continue to bear fruit through them, their families and their community,” says Carolina.
We want to help more women have this kind of opportunity.
And we hope to find more women who want to experience this kind of a birth with a professional midwife.
We would like to reach out to the community by: providing more workshops and healthcare fairs where we demonstrate the care; a presence on community radios and television programs to talk about the benefits of midwifery.
We would like to ask for your support so that we can do this outreach, and also support the students’ education through scholarships and workshops as well as provide coupons to women who can’t afford our care so they can have the birth of their dreams.) Through these activities, we will reach a greater number of women to attend Mujeres Aliadas’ Health Center and receive care from professional midwives.
With your help, we can provide the following benefits:
- More practical training for the students of Professional Midwifery.
- More women receiving qualified dignified healthcare.
- Help us achieve the sustainability of Mujeres Aliadas’ health center. So that more women can receive the qualified, dignified care they deserve from professional midwifery students eager to make a difference in each woman’s lives. “The women we care for are our best teachers, because they are the owners of their bodies, they are the ones that feel, the ones that guide us into how to provide the best accompaniment and health care they need.
