#VENEZUELAMOVINGFWD Matching Funds Rules

Thanks to the generous support of The Tinker Foundation, all organizations participating in #VenezuelansMovingFwd are eligible for matching funds and a special end-of-campaign prize for the project with the most individual donors. These extra incentives are a great way to motivate your team to go all-in on the campaign, not to mention the effect this will have motivating potential donors. Make the most of these matching funds!

$4,000 in matching funds

In order to encourage donors to give more generously, donations received on December 18—International Migrants Day—will be partially matched.

  • Starting at 00:00 CST, for each donation over $70 (USD) to a participating project, the pooled fund will add $30 more.
  • Matching will continue until the $4,000 have been allocated.

Matching funds: The fine print

Matching funds are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. Please read the following rules and communicate them to your team to avoid misunderstandings regarding eligibility for matching funds.

  • Only donations of $70 or more will be matched. Any donation of $69.99 or under will not be considered eligible. When donations are made in a currency that is not U.S. dollars, the donation amount that appears on the user’s screen in dollars, prior to the final confirmation of the donation, will be used to determine whether the donation is eligible.
  • Only the first donation made by a person to a participating project will be matched. If the individual makes two or more donations to the same project, only the first donation will be matched. HIPGive will review names and email addresses to determine whether an individual is a new or repeat donor.
  • Matching will start at 00:00 CST on December 18, 2019. The time of donation is determined by the timestamp on HIPGive’s server. Donations made prior to this time will not be eligible.
  • Matching will cease at such time that the $4,000 have been fully allocated. The last eligible donation will receive a match of $10.
  • There is no limit on the amount of matching funds that an organization can receive, as long as each match is from a different individual for a donation of $70 or over.
  • Donations made by the same individual to different projects are eligible, as per the rules above.

$1,000 end-of-campaign prize

Crowdfunding is just as much about raising a crowd as it is about raising funds. To recognize the achievement of the organization whose project has been funded by the greatest number of unique individual donors, The Tinker Foundation has donated an additional prize of $1,000.

The winner of the prize will be determined in the following way:

  • After the crowdfunding campaigns cease on January 18, 2020, HIPGive will count the number of individual donors that have funded each participating project.
  • Donations of any amount made between 00:00 December 1st  (CST) through to 23:59 January 18 (CST) are eligible to be counted. There is no minimum amount for the donations.
  • Only the first donation made by an individual to a project will be counted. If the individual makes two or more donations, only the first will be eligible. HIPGive will review names and email addresses to determine whether an individual is a new or repeat donor.
  • Donations made by the same individual to different projects are eligible, as per the rules above.
